Manama, the capital of Bahrain, is one of 33 islands in the Persian Gulf
that make up the country of Bahrain. The islands are mostly desert, and most of
the population lives in or near Manama. Since the 1930s, the oil industry has
replaced pearl diving, and Bahrain has become a financial and communications
hub.
Manama's openness to new ideas has enabled it to establish itself as one of the Middle East's most progressive capitals. Almost a third of the city's residents are non-natives, and most citizens are bilingual.
The Manama Location
McKinsey's Manama location was established in 2005. Our consultants describe the office as an exciting and entrepreneurial environment in which to work.
Manama as a location offers our consultants an opportunity to develop a depth of understanding of Bahraini culture, thereby widening their knowledge and appreciation of the Middle East region as a whole.
McKinsey's Middle East office (which includes our locations in Dubai, Manama, and Riyadh) is home to more than 100 consultants and practice experts, representing over 45 nationalities.
